SCIENCE OF COUNTRY LIFE
Credit: 0.5 GHS Credit
Grade level: 10-12
Prerequisite: Biology, Chemistry recommended
Length: one semester
Are you proud of your rural roots? Here is your opportunity to show off that pride and grow your science understandings at the same time. As part of this student-driven course, students will choose several country life skills and/or traditions. Examples of country living skills could include meat processing, fly fishing, canning, logging, and turkey hunting, to name a few. Students will invite local area experts (e.g., grandfather, mother, neighbor, etc.) to share their treasured knowledge. Finally, students will then break down, explore, and study the many avenues of science associated with the rural skills/traditions, sharing their findings with our community.
